US: Nike launches new running shoe

Monday, April 20, 2009

Sporting goods firm Nike has introduced its new LunarGlide+ running shoe, which has a mid-sole architecture system called Dynamic Support it says offers cushioning and stability in equal measure.
"Runners traditionally had to choose between stability or cushioning shoes based on their style," said Leslie Lane, global vice president and general manager for Nike Running. "Now, consumers can choose a single running shoe that will respond to all of their needs, even adjusting on the fly during a run."
Nike said the patent-pending Dynamic Support system uses a lightweight foam core that sits within a firmer foam carriage and has a rear-foot wedge. A foam sockliner in the shoe also creates a foot-bed for runners.
Nike first introduced LunarLite foam in the summer of 2008 ahead of the Beijing Olympics.
